What does AB – Aurora Borealis mean?
Sometimes when you see a colour described in relation to jewellery supplies, the letters AB follow the colour description, eg Red AB.
AB is short for Aurora Borealis. The Aurora Borealis is a Latin term which roughly translated as “Northern Lights”. This natural phenomenon occurs in the northern regions of the world and is a spectacular display of luminous arches or streams of light.
In jewellery making, AB is a coating that is applied to glass and crystal to produce a shimmering, light catching reflective surface.
